Basic Procedures

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

This involves the removal of the gallbladder by this method when there are problems with stones inside it (cholecystolithiasis) that cause incapacitating and frequent colic pain or when the gallbladder becomes inflamed and infected (cholecystitis) due to having stones for a long time or due to poor blood supply in patients with coexisting diseases such as diabetes mellitus. Only three small wounds are required for this surgery.

Laparoscopic Appendectomy.

This procedure consists of removing the cecal appendix (an extension of the large intestine) when it becomes inflamed. It is a very common condition in surgery. It is currently known that the best result of this procedure is obtained laparoscopically, since it has the advantage that in any inflammatory phase of the appendix (incipient or advanced with pus) it can be performed by this method safely and efficiently since the instruments reach areas that are difficult to access in open surgery and practically do not leave scars in the abdomen. Likewise, complications and pain are less compared to traditional surgery.

Diagnostic Laparoscopy.

This procedure consists of introducing a small lens through an incision and examining the abdominal cavity for conditions of uncertain origin that result in intestinal discomfort (nausea, vomiting, fever, acute or chronic abdominal pain) but for which the cause cannot be found despite being studied by other methods (laboratory or imaging studies). It is a very effective method since at the same time that the problem that causes the deterioration of the state of health is found, it can be resolved in experienced hands. It leaves practically no trace of surgery and the patient’s recovery is very fast.
